Ahoy there, I'm Non Canon and this is the first song to have been released from my 2nd album 'Non Canon II'. It's one of the most stripped-back songs from the record instrumentation-wise, and is about my frustration with people hiding behind 'freedom of speech' to try and justify their bigotry.
We love songs with emotion. This song was recorded in my bedroom with acoustic guitars but then distorted. The song is dark and tense and the vocals full of some kind of twisted, obscure angst. But that changes at the end.
Softswitch is a synth-noise-punk foursome from Winnipeg MB, drawn together by their love of post-punk, early bedtimes, and DIY electronics. Having recently finished recording their EP to tape in Winnipeg, Softswitch took a trip to Chicago to have it mixed by Steve Albini and mastered by Bob Weston.
